SAN RAMON, Calif.--()--Five9, a leading provider of cloud contact center solutions, today announces that Five9 CFO, Barry Zwarenstein was awarded the 2019 Bay Area CFO of the Year Award for the small to medium public company category.

The Bay Area CFO of the Year Awards are presented by Larkin Street Youth Services in partnership with the San Francisco Business Times, and title sponsors Deloitte and Marsh & McLennan Agency. Proceeds benefit Larkin Street’s work to prevent and end youth homelessness.

Zwarenstein was honored at a ceremony on Thursday, June 6 at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco. Over 500 guests were in attendance and raised over $500,000 to support Larkin Street.

“Barry is a world-class CFO,” said Rowan Trollope, Five9 CEO. “I have had considerable experience in dealing with CFOs throughout my career and I consider Barry to be one of the best. I deeply value his vast experience, intelligence, business savvy, financial acumen and leadership. He is deeply respected throughout the organization and by Wall Street. His work ethic is amazing. Barry is a key business partner for me and the rest of the executive management team.”

Zwarenstein has more than 35 years of financial leadership in the technology industry, and has served as the Five9 CFO since January 2012 and Interim CEO from December 2017 until May 2018. He has been the CFO of several companies and has managed three successful IPOs, including Five9, VeriFone and Logitech.

His philosophy is to take a broad approach to the role of CFO and become an effective business partner across the entire organization. Barry's approach is to keep shareholders effectively informed, ensure sufficient funding, drive process improvements, and report accurate and timely financial information. A key element that connects these roles are in-depth, contextual analyses about all aspects of the business; something that is easily accomplished in a cloud company like Five9 since there is an abundance of consistent and coherent data. He also believes it is essential to have best-in-class, scalable, and integrated systems, as well as a strong, seasoned finance team.

“I am honored and humbled to have received the CFO of the Year award,” said Barry Zwarenstein, Five9 CFO. “It would not have been possible without the help and support of my many great partners – including the Five9 executive staff, my incredible finance team and caring family.”
